Rookie of the Year 2016 Results
This Award was judged by a panel.
Winner – Freddie Slater
Freddie has caused some upsets this year not only in the UK, but also over in the States too. Competing in his first full year of Cadets Freddie started with some podiums in the Florida Winter Tour before he was able to reflect those results at club level in the UK. He ended his year on a massive high as he finished 2nd at the Supernationals over in Las Vegas in the Micro Swift. He’s certainly a star of the future!
Highly Commended – Josh Irfan
Josh started this year as a novice but if you’d just watched him for the first time now you’d think he’s had years of Cadet experience under his belt. Aged just 8 years old Josh has had two top 20 finishes in both the Cadet classes in Super One and has been impressive in LGM too. He’s taken wins at club level and is starting to look like a title contender in his class for 2017. Off the track he is one of the most mature 8 year olds you will ever meet.
Highly Commended – Emily Linscott
Emily has all the stats to be worthy of this title. She’s taken several podiums everywhere she’s raced, she’s won a handful of awards and is currently ranked 18th the UK Sodi World Series. She’s made quick progress on track and her efforts off track helped her to pull in lots of support for the Awards which helped her to be recognised in this category.
Highly Commended – Vinnie Phillips
At just 8 years old Vinnie picked up a highly commended spot in this years Rookie category after his impressive performances at club level and traffic on his Awards page. He’s what the Award is all about, a driver in his first year who is already causing upsets at some of the toughest tracks in the country.
Editor’s Special Mention – Lewis Rushforth
Lewis gained a lot of support during the voting period of this Awards and ended up with a total of 418 likes to his page! The privateer Junior TKM racer has based himself at Shenington this year and has been a constant improver not only in results, but in pace too.
