NSKC May Race Report

North of Scotland Kart Club, Littleferry Race Circuit, Golspie –  28 May 2017.

Dry and sunny weather greeted drivers for the second round of the North of Scotland Kart Club Championships. The meeting held the Ross Transport Shield for Juniors award at the Littleferry Race Circuit, Golspie, on Sunday 28 May 2017. Practice was followed by three heats (ten laps) and a final (twelve laps).

Honda Cadet:

In the Honda Cadet class Tristan Rennie (Dyce) won all three heats and started the final from pole position and led at the end of lap one. Rennie led from start to finish to take the win by 9.387 seconds and fastest race lap from Dylan MacKay (Golspie) in second place, Jack Ryan (Halkirk) was third, Sophie Kinghorn (Rothienorman) was fourth, fifth went to Steven Duncan (Elgin) and sixth along with best novice went to Owen Ross (Nairn).

Mini Max:

In the Mini Max class Jack MacKay (Golspie) won all three heats and started in pole position for the final. MacKay led all the race to take the win by 3.813 seconds and fastest race lap from Tom Binnie (Halkirk) in second place.

Junior Max:

In the Junior Max class David Mitchell (Avoch) won all three heats. Mitchell then starting in pole position for the final and led from start to finish winning the final by 5.356 seconds and fastest race lap from Hamish Ross (Rogart) in second place and Jake Logan (Conon Bridge) was third.

Senior Rotax:

In Senior Rotax Alex MacKay (Inverness) won all three heats. MacKay started the final in pole position and led at the end of lap one. MacKay led all the race to take the win by 1.092 seconds from Gary Bird (Inverness) in second place, Callum Newsham (Inverness) was third, fourth place went to Liam MacKay (Brora), fifth went to Cameron McPhee () aloong with fastest race lap and Jamie MacKay (Halkirk) was sixth. Best novice went to Scott MacKay (Brora).

Senior Rotax 177:

In Senior Rotax 177 Jay MacKay (Halkirk) won heats one and two, Stuart Campbell (Contin) won heat three. MacKay started the final in pole position but made a poor start and dropped down to third place with Campbell taking the lead and led the whole race to the chequered flag to win by 4.905 seconds from Duncan Urquhart (Muir of Ord) in second place and MacKay was third along with fastest race lap.

Senior Gearbox:

In Senior Gearbox Ryan Magennis (Beauly) won heat one, Ryan Cannon (Fife) won heats two and three. Magennis started the final from pole position and led the first three laps. On lap four Cannon took the lead taking the chequered flag, winning from Jack Gordon (Aberdeen) who got fastest race lap in second place, third place went to Robbie Gray (Evanton), Ross MacLean (Inverness) was fourth, fifth place went to Magennis and sixth place went to Gregor Matheson (Muir of Ord).

Final Race Results:

Honda Cadet: 1 Tristan Rennie (Dyce), 2 Dylan MacKay (Golspie), 3 Jack Ryan (Halkirk).

Novices: Owen Ross (Inverness), Ella Matheson (Muir of Ord).

Junior Mini Max: 1 Jack MacKay (Golspie), 2 Tom Binnie (Halkirk).

Junior Max: 1 David Mitchell (Avoch), 2  Hamish Ross (Rogart), 3 Jake Logan (Conon Bridge).

Senior Rotax: 1 Alex MacKay (Inverness), 2 Gary Bird (Inverness), 3 Callum Newsham (Inverness).

Senior Rotax 177: 1 Stuart Campbell (Contin), 2 Duncan Urquhart (Muir of Ord), 3 Jay MacKay (Halkirk).
