The show was an hour away from Milan Bergamo, not far from to Tonykart factory in Brescia or the CRG factory in Lonato, but despite this Tonykart and Birel were not in attendance.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that they are having a disagreement with CRG about the promotion of one-make championships as opposed to KF. CRG, LH, Intrepid, CKR, Parolin, Topkart, Gold, Allkart and Sodi were there though, and Vroom were displaying a 2011 adjustable wheelbase Maranello.
This was the third running of the show, which also featured numerous accessory manufacturers and retailers as well as the kart and engine manufacturers.
Intrepid had a very impressive stand with rows of karts hanging from hooks like sides of meat, and they also had a Formula Abarth car as raced by Brandon Maisano in 2010. The new Czech Praga kart range was launched which is also made by SKM. Announcements were made at the show that Jordan Chamberlain (KF1) and George Russell (KF3) are to join the team this year.
CRG, Maxter and LH had a combined stand, with the latest karts on display. Maxter had the MXE engine as well as the standard KZ and KF range. The MXE is basically a KZ with an electric start. They also made it clear that there will be a big push for the LH (Lewis Hamilton) chassis in 2011.
One of the things I liked most wa a fully kitted out VW Caddy van from ??? with sliding kart storage, drawers etc. It was extremely well planned and it would be great to see something similar available here.
GM (not General Motors!) had a direct injection 4-stroke as well as their carbed models.
The WSK held their prizegiving gala earlier in the week and the winning karts were on display – they were far to clean to be the actual karts though, we did feel the underside of the frames!
