The BirelART UK Series, previously known as EasyKart, will be given live coverage on Downforce Radio during the 2017 motorsport season.
BirelART UK will become the premier karting category for Downforce Radio’s 2017 season of motorsports coverage, with all 8 rounds of this year’s championships for Cadets, Juniors, Lights and Masters, totalling an incredible 96 races, will be covered live on the digital motorsport radio service Downforce Radio, with commentary to be led by Eurosport and Motors TV commentator Jake Sanson. The series will hold race meetings at some of Great Britain’s premier karting circuits, including Buckmore Park, Whilton Mill, Shenington, Fulbeck, Clay Pigeon and Glan-y-Gors Park.
“We have been striving to secure a deal with a premier British karting championship, and we are delighted that BirelART UK are uniting with Downforce Radio,” said Jake Sanson, editor in chief of Downforce Radio today. “It is a fantastic championship with incredible drivers and fantastic circuits, showcasing the very best in British racing talent. The single-chassis formula means that the racing comes down to the drivers and technical know-how rather than budgets, and with 96 races over the course of 2017 over four classes I am excited to get the season underway.”
The championship runs for Cadet, Junior, Lights and Masters categories, with prizes on offer for championship winners including tests and factory tours with the sports car manufacturer Ginetta. The championship has a unique link to the Formula 1 paddock, with BirelART being part of the GP2 and GP3 squad ART Grand Prix. The BirelART team led by Andy Cox Racing also runs drivers in British and International karting events, with 2017 seeing the team running former winner of Downforce Radio’s Keir Millar U13 Racer of the Year award Dexter Patterson. In addition to their own championships, BirelART UK runs a Cadet Academy over the school summer holidays in Great Britain over the month of August.
The radio coverage of BirelART UK will be fronted by the championship’s YouTube and trackside commentator Jake Sanson and will be available live on demand, and for post race downloads, at all 8 rounds of the BirelART UK championships.
The first broadcast of the alliance for Downforce Radio and BirelART will be a season preview live from Whilton Mill at the championship’s official shakedown on Saturday 11th February.
