Caron Keating charity kart race returns to Daytona Sandown

Following the success of the inaugural Caron Keating Charity Kart Challenge in 2014, Daytona Sandown Park is delighted to announce that it will host the event for the second year running on Saturday 19th September.
Last year’s #Kart4Caron at Daytona Sandown Park saw 24 teams with four drivers each race in a thrilling 2.5 hour ‘Le Mans’ style endurance marathon. Motorsport professionals including F1 test driver, Jolyon Palmer,  BTCC’s Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal; and  and British GT Champion, Alexander Sims, took the roles of pace-setters whilst TV stars Anthea Turner, Gloria Hunniford, Heidi Range and Phillip Glenister cheered from the grandstand. The total amount raised from the day’s activities was a staggering £40,000 – monies that have provided invaluable to those affected by and dealing with cancer.
Once again, Daytona Sandown Park is delighted to supply it’s superb fleet of  60-mph Sodi RT8 pro-racing karts – and this year,  in order to suit all levels of driver experience,  racing will run with a change to the usual format. A 40 minute sprint will be follow the 100 minute endurance…..and to add a whole new level of adrenalin,  there will  also be a ‘Formula One’ style pit-stop competition. Using a genuine F1 chassis, teams will be able to compete against each other in a ‘Grand Prix style’ fastest wheel-change challenge. This is certainly not for the faint-hearted – it takes many months of practice by the world’s top professional teams to make this look so slick!

A VIP track-side marquee will guarantee superb viewing for teams and their guests whilst they enjoy first-class hospitality throughout.  A delicious dinner and awards ceremony will follow the race and will conclude with a fabulous charity auction where a collection of exceptional and unique prizes will be on offer.

Infiinity Media’s Russ Lindsay – Caron’s husband of 14 years and a key organiser of #Kart4Caron – is delighted to be returning to Daytona Sandown Park.  He says, “Our first Kart#4Caron race at Daytona last October was amazing and we vowed to make it an annual event! Last year, we raised a staggering £40,000 for Caron’s Charity and we are hoping we can go even higher this year.  For those who knew Caron, she loved motorsport and would completely approve of raising money for her charity in this way – she was always the one on Blue Peter who got picked to do stuff with fast cars!”
