Karting magazine has teamed up with BIZ Karts to launch a brand new rental kart championship.
We want to find tomorrow’s top talent! Thousands of people go karting each year in the UK but the majority never take their skills any further than a quick session around their local track. The Champions Challenge sets out to change that.
We’re giving promising young karting enthusiasts a target to aim for and other drivers to benchmark themselves against. You might be able to beat your mates but can you beat other talented karters at your local circuit and can you take on the best in the finals? We’re looking to find karters who don’t already compete and turn them into fully-fledged racers. Join us, as we pitch the fastest karters from each of the participating circuits head-to-head. There’s a big prize on off er: 7 winners will each get a weekend racing in the MINI Challenge!
How you can get involved
Participating circuits will run a series of events over the course of the year. A list of these circuits can be found on the BIZ Karts website (bizkarts.com/championschallenge). You will need to register at the circuit for a small one-off fee. The Qualifier closes on the 31st December 2015. The two highest scoring drivers from each track will go through to the Champions Challenge Final. If you register at more than one circuit, please note that your points cannot be transferred between circuits. You can put in as many laps as you like at your local circuit in order to post your best possible time.
The Champions Challenge Final
The Champions Challenge Final sees the inter-circuit competition heating up! The top 2 drivers from every participating circuit will compete against each other in a one day weight-classed event, that will include a series of heats and finals. In the interests of fairness, the location of the Champions Challenge Final will be disclosed by BIZ Karts nearer the time. The final is anticipated to be held in January or February 2016.
The Mini Challenge 2016 prize
The top 7 finishers from the Champions Challenge Final will become the BIZ 7 and will be teammates, representing their circuit within the MINI Challenge. The BIZ 7 team will be put through the ARDS test to gain a car racing license and then compete in one televised race weekend each. This will consist of a Friday practice session, Saturday qualifying round and between 2 and 4 races.Race weekend allocation will be selected in order of the Champions Challenge Final results. For example, if you come first, you will have first choice of which weekend you race.
