Herbet charity event raises thousands

Over £16,000 was generated for charity at the 20th anniversary of The Johnny Herbert Karting Challenge at Capital Karts in Barking in December.The three-hour enduro featured racing names such as David and Sam Brabham, ex-F1 world champion Damon Hill and Freddie Hunt, raising money for The Halow Project.BT Motorsport, headed by former Formula Kart Stars racer and Formula Ford class winner Bobby Thompson, claimed victory alongside team-mates Danny Wood, Reece Wade, Tom Jackson, Laura Tillet and Connor Hall.

For the second year in succession, solo driver Howard Kayman completed the race in second place, raising over £2000. Herbert’s team finished third.“There were lots of smiles, and it was the best way to support such a great charity event, despite it being a chilly day,” said organiser Roy Craig. “The turnout was fantastic with 130 drivers racing, and Johnny was on good form as usual.”
