Surtees Race Success

A 35-team grid made up of 140 karters raised an estimated £60,000 for the Henry Surtees Foundation and the Brooklands Museum at last week’s third annual Brooklands Team Challenge event.

Star racers including Lucas di Grassi, Alexander Sims, Tom Ingram, Charlie Eastwood and Rick Parfitt Jr took part to celebrate the 50th anniversary of John Surtees’ F1 title win.

The young team of Charlie Robertson, James Kellett, Jamie Chadwick and Esmee Hawkey claimed victory for the LNT Ginetta team.

Surtees said: “The fantastic opportunity we have here is that the Brooklands Team Challenge is about the cross section of people – we don’t just have racing drivers here, you go along the pits and look at the podium and we have a great range of karting abilities and different professions represented, which augers well for the future and developing the event even further, using the wonderful facilities at Mercedes-Benz World.”
