Hoddesdon Kart Club, September 7, 2014 – Rye House Kart Raceway

Dull and overcast to begin with but an unexpected rain storm gave the 166 drivers a scare.

The track soon dried out and the vast crowd thronging the campus thoroughly enjoyed a hot sunny, end of Summer Day. Hoddesdon Kart Club welcomed a grid of seventeen IAME Cadets to Rye House for the fi rst Final of the Day. Starting from pole, Ben Wooldridge led every lap of the race to win by 1.30 seconds from Ben Kasperczak, who had never raced IAME’s before. All four runners-up finished within 1s of each other.. Leo Panayiotou needed an eight-place gain and the fastest lap time to come third, followed in by Albert Carter and Reggie Duhy.. Next up was Junior Rotax with Inem Coker clinching his lights-to-flag victory by 39/100 s from last-year’s winner, Gus Lawrence. Angelo Prodromou posted the fasted lap and just couldn’t catch Lawrence by 17/100s. Aaron Drury was fourth after his first-half challenge came to naught, but Hayden Cater had just too much to do gaining four places early on to improve on his fifth place.

Both Honda Cadet grids were full at the maximum premised 28.  After poleman Ben Kasperczak retired on lap 5, Wes Mason was unchallenged until 3 laps from the end when victory could have gone to either him or Jude Young or Louie Westover. Mason got free and won, beating Young by 0.61s.. Westover completed the Cu. ing Edge Racing top trio at third with the fastest lap. Khali Atkins’ seven-place gain got him into fourth.. Lucas Ellingham resumed his GX200 Extreme Cadets rivalry with Harry Restall, beating him for the fi nal podium spot by a slender 12/100 s.In Rotax Mini MAX, ex-Comer Champion Taylor Bellini won from pole in another tight finish and it looked as though the next two places would be in dummy-grid order until P3 Lochlan Bearman and P2 Alfi e Haralambous twisted places on lap 18 There was also a great duel for the next two places where a speedy Danny Harrison had to gain seven places to come fourth, grabbing that place from Rowan Bailey on lap sixteen, with the two of them only separated by a fl ick of the chequered flag… — 7/100s.

Andrew Winter led every lap of the race of the Senior Rotax MAX Final to win by 1.35 s from Charlie Turner. The next four came in together around five seconds down. Lead by Thomas Prior, these were George Sanders and Tom Thompson, who pipped Ryan Dones for the last rung of the podium by 1/5 s.. Jack Bartholomew set the fastest time of 35.36 s on lap fourteen. In Rotax 177, starting from pole, Dominic Russell led every lap of the race to win by 0.73s from P3 Ollie Smith a. er Aaron Charles’ was forced out. Adam Sadler started ninth and was fourth at the end of the fi rst lap, fi nishing third, 33/100 s in front of Tom Daniel. Ryan White, finished in fifthh, 35/100 sin front of Scott Clee. Fastest Lap was 35.92 s set by Dominic Russell on lap thirteen. This was the last race of a splendid day and the Clubman Cadets with a few Honda Cadets double-heading didn’t let the racing tempo sag in the slightest.

Team-mates Khali Atkins and Sam Lebentz-Jones jostled for position from lap two and had it all to themselves a. er P2 Billy Styles tumbled down the order.. It was Atkins who was first to take the chequered flag by 0.06s after a torrid last lap. The next three to complete the podium were: Alfi e Prince, Oliver Benne. , and Theo Pastou who had to conjure up twelve places from way-down to get the fifth spot and unsurprisingly, the trophy for the fastest lap of the day. Two more arrived in the same tight pack on eight seconds — Juan Bishoen and Sam Heading — but. were just unlucky not to podium.Honda Clubman Harley White was acclaimed Driver of the Day and presented with the Sami Awad memorial trophy. The London Cup may revert to its two-day format in 2015 and a. er a full day of fi lming, it will again be shown extensively on TV.
